Fishing and Cooking 1 to 450 Guide

Fishing note: it does not matter where you fish, your skill up rate will not change. Your skill up
rate is determined by the number of successful catches, not by the area you fish in or by the
quality of fish that you catch.

Skill Up Table for Fishing

100 - 2 (successful catches)
115 - 3
140 - 4
165 - 5
190 - 6
215 - 7
240 - 8
265 - 9
290 - 10
375 - 12.5
430 - 14.5

So, with that knowledge, you'll realize that you can skill up fishing from 1 to 450 by fishing the
water of your faction's city. The reason for the different locations mentioned in this guide, is for
you to be able to skill up your cooking as well.

I've combined both fishing and cooking in this guide, as they compliment each other very well
and if your going to skill up your fishing, you might as well skill up your cooking with all the
fish you'll be catching.

Note: your cooking will always level faster than your fishing. You'll have to make use of lures
even more when the gap between your fishing and cooking increases. Typically, by the time I've
reached 300 cooking, my fishing is anywhere between 230 and 250.

Also, please be aware that this is not a fully comprehensive guide to both cooking and fishing
and was never intended to be. The sole purpose of this guide is to level up your cooking and
fishing in the quickest way possible.

Fishing poles

You need to go buy a fishing pole. After using your initial Fishing Pole, you can find better ones
out there in the world. Check the Auction House for poles.

Blump Family Fishing Pole +3 - Alliance only quest. Talk to Gubber Blump in
        Auberdine (Darkshore).
        Strong Fishing Pole +5
        Darkwood Fishing Pole +15
        Big Iron Fishing Pole +20
Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000 +25 - Horde only quest. Talk to Katoom the Angler
at Revantusk Village in the Hinterlands.
Arcanite Fishing Pole +35 - Reward for winning the Stranglethorn Fishing Contest.

Bait

Find a merchant who sells bait. You can then use this bait to raise your fishing skill so that you
have an easier time catching fish. Bait wears off after a period of time, so you must continue to
reapply it. You can buy better bait for higher bonuses to fishing. You will need Aquadynamic
Fish Attractors for the highest level fishing areas. These can be created by Engineers.

Shiny Bauble +25 for 10 minutes
         Nightcrawlers +50 for 10 minutes
Bright Baubles +75 for 10 minutes
Aquadynamic Fish Attractor +100 for 5 minutes

So let's start:

Go to your fishing trainer and cook and pick up Fishing and Cooking skills.
Buy a fishing pole and a stack of Shiny Bauble from any fishing vender.
Your now ready to begin.

Cooking and Fishing Level 225

At this point you should now have level 225 fishing and level 225 cooking. If your not level 35
yet, then this is as far as you can go. If you are level 35+ then you have two quests to complete
before you can continue.

First quest: Cooking
Requirements: Level 35, 225 Cooking

Go to Gadgetzan in Tanaris and speak to Dirge Quikcleave then accept "Clamlette Surprise"
You should actually be able to buy the eggs and clam meat off of AH, but in case you
can't here's where to find them.
Fire Roc and Roc drop Giant Egg in Tanaris but if you are having a hard time with the
drop rate, the best place I found for the eggs, was the Savage Owlbeast in The
        Hinterlands.
Steeljaw Snapper drops Zesty Clam Meat. The drop rate is quite high and you'll have
your clam meat in no time.
The Alterac Swiss is the easiest part. Go to Freewind Post in Thousand Needles and buy
them off of the Inn Keeper.
Hand them all in and you'll get your Artisan Cooking.

Second Quest: Fishing
Requirements: Level 35, 225 Fishing.

You need to find Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh. He is standing on a small island to the West of
Theramore (58,60). Accept his quest "Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme" He'll ask you to catch four
rare fishes for him. This quest is actually really easy and the only hard part is the amount of
traveling involved.

Feralas Ahi - Camp Mojache, Feralas @ 62,52
Sar'theris Striker - Shadowprey Village, Desolace @ 36,32. Make sure the area comes up
as Sar'theris Strand on your screen.
Savage Coast Blue Saffin - Just outside Grom'gol Base Camp. Make sure the area comes
        up as Savage Coast.
Misty Reed Mahi Mahi - Stonard, Swamp of Sorrows @ 90.72
The best order I've found to do this quest in is, assuming you don't already have all the
flight paths. From Dustwallow, ride to the Great Lift and then head West through
Thousand Needles to Camp Mojache in Feralas - From Feralas, ride North West into
Desolace and onto Shadowprey Village - From Desolace, fly to Thunderbluff - Fly to
Crossroads - Fly to Orgrimmar - Get Zeppelin to Grom'gol Base Camp - Ride North to
Duskwood - Ride East to Deadwind Pass - Ride through Deadwind Pass to Swamp of
        Sorrows.
Once you turn in the quest you'll get Artisan Fishing.

Master Fishing skill is obtained by simply reading a book purchased from Juno Dufrain, just
west of Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh. The book requires at least level 45 and a base fishing
skill of 275. Due to high fishing requirements throughout Outland, it is strongly suggested to
have at least a +75 lure and +20 fishing pole whenever possible. A suitable pole is easily
obtained from a quest in Lower City in Shattrath, "Rather Be Fishin'." Master Cooking is also
obtained from a book, sold by Baxter in Thrallmar, Gaston at Honor Hold, and Naka at Cenarion
Refuge. There is no level requirement, but you must have a base 300 cooking skill.
